Purpose

In 2018 there had been 4 years of hardly any grass production (max. 2 cuts of grass per year) on the grassland of Mts de Gouw Haarsteeg. To identify the cause a chroma was made. This showed the lack of humus formation. In order to improve grass production, TerraPulse was applied. TerraPulse contains Fulvic25 and fungi that are useful in converting the organic matter present to humus.

Results

500 kg/ha TerraPulse was applied in December 2018.

Results

Increased grass production from 2 to 6 cuts per year

Visible humus formation could be seen in the chromas even after only 1 year of TerraPulse use. Treatment with TerraPulse also resulted in an expansion of the CEC complex and increase in the C/N ratio. Mycorrhiza activity also increased, from 25% colonization in 2018 to 53% colonization in 2020. This made grass less suceptible to drought and increased grass production from 2 to 6 cuts per year.
